About The Artist
The
" Thrill of the hunt". To feel your heart vigorously
pumping and blood surging through your veins is the reward of
a great hunt. It is this exhilarating feeling that keeps us on
the hunt season after season. It has been over 30 seasons that
Teom Lim has been on the hunt. Since he was a child with a "Sling
- Shot", he was always on the prowl.
Teom's
early days were influenced by his father ( a world traveler and
outdoorsman). Stories of jungle expeditions, fishing trips, and
exotic wildlife were deeply imprinted into the child's imagination.
Most of his formative years were spent playing in grand wilderness
of western Alberta, Canada. There his love for the land and water
grew and eventually lead him to an education in biology. With
his passion for the outdoors, a university degree and an artistic
eye, Teom is blessed with a rare perspective on wildlife art.
Teom's
artistic career started as a dare from an artist friend. Teom
did not realize that entering that first piece of art work in
a competition would eventually lead to winning many Canadian and
world carving championship blue ribbons. After Teom's artwork
are retired from competition, some are donated to non-profit organizations
such as fish & game clubs, youth sporting organizations, college
museums, etc. These donations were intended for fund raisers or
teaching aids to further the concept of conserving nature. A few
pieces are kept by Teom as trophies of challenging competitions
and hard fought victories. The remainders are sold to collectors.
With
a busy schedule of work, Teom still finds some time to hunt. Whether
it be antelope in Alberta, boars in Borneo or Bison in British
Columbia, it is all "heart pounding fun for me"
